How Cloud Has Impacted Businesses
The truth is that for the past year, the cloud has been helping businesses and technology developers in creating a streamlined way to reach customers remotely.
On the other hand, many startups initiated a cloud-native approach to deliver products and services directly to end-users.
Both private and public cloud service or infrastructure providers gained a tremendous amount of business during last year. According to a MariaDB survey:
By 2022, 75% of the databases will be moved to the cloud to achieve faster scalability and lesser infrastructure cost.
Now, let me tell you some numbers — according to estimates from Synergy Research Group, Amazon’s market share in the worldwide cloud infrastructure market amounted to 32 percent in the fourth quarter of 2020, still exceeding the combined market share of its two largest competitors, Microsoft and Google. Shocked? (Well if not, please be shocked for dramatic effect)
What are different kinds of Cloud Computing models?
I always wondered about the term Cloud Computing. When I started working with cloud, I came across a range of classifications, types, and architectural models. This networked computing model has transformed how organizations work today — you’re likely already using the cloud (No need to panic).
Businesses use various types of cloud computing models as below:
- Public Cloud — is cloud computing that’s delivered via the internet and can be shared across locations or organizations
- Private Cloud — is dedicated to the organization
- Hybrid Cloud — (I think you guessed it) It uses both public and private clouds

Cloud is helping with many bigger problems like, “Oh man, I have to ask my customer to buy ten more users otherwise their new employees will not be able to login to our product.” I know, that is far-fetched, but think about it (also, keep reading).
Solution — Now, let us say I have the same product running in a cloud infrastructure that is configured to handle more traffic as it comes and charges accordingly. That will save me time, resources, and effort (maybe allow me to leave early from the office).
On a serious note, when it comes to business, nobody wants to have more downtime or more resource allocation for the typical infrastructure-expanding types of workloads. Rather, one can deploy an automation tool like Terraform that can help to create a large number of localized configurations to run deployments over the cloud.
Conclusion
Cloud will change how businesses are running in the coming years and let us all be a part of this change. Because come on — who doesn’t like to have digital tea (not talking about dating)?
